EXCERPT:
"I have something of yours," he informed as he made his way to the round table sitting right next the small kitchen.

Chills broke out across my skin as I watched him open a small box and lift its contents out.

"The hospital took it when you were committed," he shared, walking towards me with the necklace he gave me in this very cabin years ago. "I thought you might want it back."

Without a word, I pulled my now shoulder length black hair up and allowed him to fasten it around my neck.
Caught up in the sentiment, I wrapped my arms around his waist as he leaning down and kissed me.

"Wait," I blurted, breaking our kiss and pulling away. "Won't being with me violate your integrity?"

He drew in a deep breath before wrapping his arms around me.

His lips were an inch or so shy of mine as he looked into my eyes and declared, "Tomorrow night, if it goes bad, they're coming after all of us. There's no way in hell I'm going to let anything stand in the way of us being together, even if it means sacrificing everything I've worked my whole life for."

If I was a better person, I would have stopped him right then and there. Instead, I closed what little space was left between us as I kissed him.
A combination of reminiscence and rediscovered yearning flowed through me. His movements left little measure for reservations. His kisses were fervent as we rolled around on his bed, pulling at each other's clothes. The moment nothing else remained between us, he traveled my body with his mouth. My insides hummed, savoring the sensation as he tasted every inch of my skin. I began to beg for him. My pleas provoked him to sink into me, pulling us both under with an overindulgence of ecstasy. Francis was just as I remembered him to be with the additional benefit of age and experience lengthening what was once youthful haste.

Release Day Blitz + Giveaway: The Long Way Down*M. Sembera

Title: The Long Way Down
Author: M. Sembera
Genera: Standalone/Women's Fiction/Romance
Release Date: September 22

The Long Way Down is a Women's Fiction/Romance standalone based on the character Abigail from my Rennillia Series. Highlighted by the men in her life, Abigail's story begins with a summer friendship, that sparks a life-long game of back and forth. As she and Soman commit to making their childhood dreams come true, first loves, broken hearts, and betrayal pit them against one another. Lines are not only drawn, but crossed when the two reconcile just long enough to create a legacy that neither one can control.

EXCERPT:

The moment was filled with sentiment and emotion as his firm but gentle lips moved against mine. He pulled away slightly just long enough for me to catch a glimpse of his dimple as he smiled before leaning back in for another kiss. I breathed in deeply, sliding my hands up his chest, against the sides of his face and into the back of his hair. There was a certain innocence to the warmth I felt as he held me in his arms. My mind ticked back to the anticipation I once felt, awaiting this moment. Now that it was happening, and innocence had long left us both, it wasn't enough.

I waited for our kiss to slow down a bit before pulling away. Instantly missing the feel of being in his arms, I was delighted to see the same emotion reflecting back at me from his eyes. I gathered the sides of my white cotton nightgown in the palms of my hands before sliding it off over my head. The longing in his expression was satisfying as I stood almost completely naked in front of him. With soft smile on my face, I turned and walked back to my room.

Charlotte💋A Marked Heart Novel ✴FREE for a limited time

The true measure of a person's worth lies not within what they can offer you but what you have to offer them. No matter how desirable, are they worth your time, patience, forgiveness, loyalty, friendship, love, respect, understanding, compassion, trust? If not, they are worth more than you have to offer. They deserve for you to let them go.

US * UK * DE * FR * ES * IT * JP * BR * CA * IN * AU

Charlotte Roberts and Augustus (Auggie) Caffrey may never have known each other, if it were not for William Caffrey. They would have simply moved on with their own lives without the anger and resentment that followed, when William fell for Charlotte almost six years ago.

Under the pretense of introducing Trace Delgado, her soon to be fiancé, to her adoptive parents, Emerson and Amila Roberts, Charlotte arrives back in her small southern hometown to personally collect on the forgiveness William promised he would give her if she ever returned.

Spending his days at the hospital with his brother William and his nights tending bar at The Dog House, Auggie knows it is only a matter of time before he loses the brother he has tried his entire life to protect.

When Auggie finds out Charlotte is in town, to no doubt torment his brother on his death bed, he wants her to stay as far away from William as possible. All Charlotte wants is to be forgiven and move on with a clear conscience. While, William's dying wish is to ensure the two people he cares about most step outside of their comfort zones and see that life is not as cut and dry as they think it is.

Charlotte's guilt and Auggie's brotherly devotion compel them to, secretly, follow through with William's last requests forcing them to begrudgingly spend time together. The more time they spend together, the closer they become. And the harder it is to keep what is taking place between them secret.

Late nights visits and stolen moments cause Charlotte to fall hard. But when a reminder of what brought them together stops Auggie dead in his tracks, he starts to question how far he's willing to go with someone who was his brother's first.

Excerpt:Ch. 4~Deal

Leaning onto the doorframe through the open door, Charlotte crossed one foot in front of the other and greeted, "Well this is a surprise."
Clearing his throat as he looked her over, Auggie questioned, "Do you really know how to do this?" holding a green ledger book up to her.
Drawing out a "Yep," she looked him up and down.
Auggie was consistent if nothing else. The only thing that varied was his choice of shirt and even then it was still plaid. And what was with the beanie? Clearly he wasn't going bald, she had seen him at the cemetery without it and although it was fashionable to wear them, he didn't strike her as keeping up with trends.
Just about the time she started to think about what was hidden by his ugly shirt, Auggie said, "Sundays are my only day off."
"And?" she questioned, wanting him to come right out and ask her for help.
"That's the day I work on this stuff."
Rolling her eyes as she turned to walk back into the living room, Charlotte replied, "Thanks for sharin'."
Auggie followed her into the house, already frustrated by the way she was acting.
Closing the door behind himself, he griped, "You said you knew an easy way to keep books. Are you gonna show me or what?"
Continuing to the couch, she sat down, crossing one leg over the other, saying, "That depends."
    "On what?"
Fluttering her eyelashes at him, Charlotte proposed, "Ask me nicely."
Narrowing his eyes at her, he snapped, "Kiss my ass."
Slowly shaking her head, Charlotte leaned back rebutting, "I do believe it's my ass you should be kissing, Augustus."
"You must be high out of your mind if you think I'm kissin' anything of yours."
Feeling a bit insulted, she sat up straight and offered, "Look, you don't like me and I don't like you so let's lay our cards on the table and help each other out."
    Suspicious, he scowled, "Alright."
Charlotte patted the spot on the couch next to her, saying, "Have a seat."
    "Yea, no thanks."
Fluttering her lashes as she rolled her eyes at him, she stood up with a loud huff.
~
Auggie watched as Charlotte made her way to a chair facing the couch. With a sarcastic expression, she motioned for him to sit on the couch by himself.
Taking the offer, he sat before asking, "You wanna get dressed first."
Crossing one of her long legs over the other, she replied, "I am dressed."
The spot where he sat on the couch still smelled like her, making him wish she would go put more clothes on.
    "Let's hear it."
Placing her hands on the arms of the chair, Charlotte stated, "I made your brother a promise before he died and I need you to keep it."
Running his last conversation with Will over in his mind, Auggie asked, "Oh yea, how's that?"
She was silent for a moment before sharing, "He wanted me to make an effort with you. Since he loved us and we cared about him, he wanted me to be here for you."
Instantly furious, Auggie stood up correcting, "I didn't just care about him, he's my brother. I don't need anything from anybody and honey, if I did, you're the last person on earth..." until she cut him off, arguing, "Really? Then why are you here?"
Asking himself that same question, Auggie remembered Will making him promise he would look out for Charlotte while she was here.
Glaring at her, Auggie sat back down. He didn't want to spend time with her. He didn't want to have anything to do with her at all. Will had really screwed him over with this one.
"What did you have in mind?"

Book Babies

Recently, I read a post that stated readers are beginning to shy away from authors who refer to a book as their baby. While I understand the point that was being made, my books will always be my babies. I can’t help it. I love them. I’ve loved them from the beginning. Since that first moment a character appeared from out of nowhere in my head and said, ‘Pst… I’m not going to leave you alone until you put me down on paper.’
The point that was being made, in the post I mentioned, was that some authors are so overprotective of their book baby, that a reader is no longer willing to risk the read. One wrong comment in a review, or a missing star or two and all hell breaks loose, because how dare they insult such a precious angel. But, that’s when I say, it’s all in the parenting.
In my opinion, the written word is birthed from an author’s imagination no easier than a child is from its mother. Let me take a moment to explain. I have three children, and while I have yet to experience a physical pain that could stand up to the horrors of squeezing another human being out of my body, the emotions are similar. 'Can I really do this?’ 'What if I’m not good enough?’ 'Oh dear God, I have no idea what I’m doing.’ 'I’m going to screw this up so bad.’ Granted, that could just be me, but you get the idea.

After all the questions, fears and struggles of guiding and forming characters, while allowing them to be themselves, you then expose your book baby to others, giving it small doses of freedom.
Beta readers are the forever friends that a book grows up with, not always agreeing, but with its best interest at heart. A book’s editor is the favorite teacher, correcting and instructing with love in hopes that one day it will be great. Proofers are the close friends that always have your back. You know the ones that tell you you have something stuck in between your teeth or toilet paper hanging from you shoe, when everyone else just points and laughs. As graduation day rapidly approaches, because somehow it all just happened so fast, the book’s cover is the gown that was so intricately put together by its cover artist, in order for it to put its best foot forward as it steps out to face the world ahead.
It is now time for the author to let go…
Of course, graduation day is also release day so you brag on your book baby. You invite your friends the bloggers, their friends, and their friend’s friends. In fact, at this point you’re so proud, you’re stopping strangers on the street and asking them if they want to celebrate.
Then, the high of accomplishment starts to wear off. Fear and anxiety loom over what’s to come. Now that your book baby is all grown up, it will have some acquaintances. Readers that nod and smile without an opinion either way. Some will dislike the book and it’s hard not to question why. Why don’t you like my baby? Truth is, your baby just might have a flaw or two. You’re going to want to correct those as any good parent would. I’m a firm believer that every book has its own unique personality. Sometimes it’s as simple as a personality clash between a book and its reader. And there are times where someone is just being a troll. There is no way of knowing if they actually read your baby or not. For some reason they are miserable human beings and thrive on the unhappiness of others. In this case, even though you’d like to, do not be the book parent hiding behind the playground slide waiting to jack up the jerk that’s messing with your baby. Hold your head up and take the high road. Because, there is nothing worse than seeing an author lose their cookies over a review that isn’t going to make or break their career, unless they let it.
There will also be those that take the book into their hearts, the ones that see all that it was meant to be, and cherish every word.
Books are more than words on a page. From the author who created it, to the betas that befriended it, the editors that guide, proofers that polish, cover artists who dress it, all the way to the readers who love it. The written word is alive. A living thing that is nurtured, cared for, and loved from the beginning.
That being said, unlike a human being books do not have free will, so it is truly all in the upbringing.
Every book started out as someone’s baby. As Authors, it is our responsibility to raise them right, and when the time comes, let them go. Allow it to stand on its own two feet.
Let’s face it, no one really wants to be the crazy overbearing in-law that doesn’t allow a book baby to grow up and have a life of its own, hindering the chances of it living up to its full potential.

Rennillia 3 by M. Sembera *Release Day*

There comes a time in every man's life
when he has to face the things he has done.
Rennillia 3 (Rennillia Series #4)
New Adult
M. Sembera
May 19, 2016

Four friends test the bonds of love, loyalty, and friendship in the final installment of this suspenseful new-adult saga.

Determined to take control of her own life, Ren makes a decision that she believes will benefit not only herself, but those she cares about the most. Uncovering one secret after another, she discovers things far more serious than she could have imagined.

With Hert fighting her every step of the way refusing to trust her, Emerson just as afraid as she is, and doing her best to keep Jackson from being involved; she is forced to step outside of her comfort zone.

Relying on those she is unsure if she can trust, Ren makes a stand that could very well cost her, her life, in this conclusion to the Rennillia Series.

Excerpt:

My eyes memorized every inch of his tattoo as I questioned, “What happens when you find someone and get married?”
“Who says I’m going to?” he asked, pulling his shirt back on.
Tilting my head, I argued, “Oh, come on. As many girls as you’ve been with, one of ‘ems bound to stick sooner or later.”
Appearing insulted, Jackson disagreed, saying, “I already told you, I was done with messing around.”
 “What about love?” I asked.
Giving me an odd look, he replied, “What does one have to do with the other?”
Shrugging, I saw his point.

I wasn’t in love before Hert, and I gladly would have slept with him before any feelings were declared. In fact, it was falling in love with Hert that made me want to wait. Feeling my heart beat a little faster and with the knot in my stomach crushing my insides, I needed to know.
“Don’t you want both?” I questioned.
Swallowing hard, Jackson asked, “Do you want me to have both?”
Staring blankly at him, my mind raced but I had nothing to say. If I said no, what kind of person would that make me? If I said yes, I would be a terrible person.
Starting to smile, he imparted, “Whatever I choose to do with my life is my own personal decision. I’m not resentful and I only have one regret and trust me, Ren, it has nothing to do with sex.”
Curious, I asked, “What is it?”
Leaning his head towards me, he shared, “A long time ago, a friend needed me and I wasn’t there.”
